MATERNITY GROUP HOME
Our Maternity Group Home (MGH) program provides safe, stable housing and supportive services for pregnant and parenting young mothers and fathers who are experiencing homelessness or unstable living conditions. The program equips them with essential parenting skills, education, employment support, and life skills training to foster independence and long-term stability for both parent and child.

Program Description
Maternity Group Home is available for expecting mothers, single mothers and single fathers aged from 16-21. Clients are allowed to stay and use the MGH resources for a maximum of 18 months
Qualifying Criteria

Must meet HUD income guidelines and HUD definition of homelessness

No felonies or sexual assault charges

Must have a copy of valid I.D., Social Security Card, and Birth Certificate
-
Must submit a completed application and pass a background check
-
May have only one child in their care (due to efficiency size of apartments)

Must demonstrate ability to function and make decisions concerning own safety with minimal supervision (due to not being a 24 hour on-site staffed facility)

CTYS provides weekly meetings with case manager

Basic furniture needs provided

Basic household items included: towels, dishes, curtains, etc

Participants that successfully leave program can take all items with them​

Grocery Assistance

Participants are taught budgeting for buying food​

Participant are taken to food pantries and guided on how to navigate and utilize food pantry system

Non-perishable items provided on a needs basis

Hygiene Assistance

Participants are provided with soap, shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrush, etc​

Life Skills
-
Participants are taught life skills, including but not limited to: cooking, taxes, writing resumes, cleaning, laundry, etc

Parenting Classes​

Participants are educated on child development and needs

Participants are guided on appropriately disciplining children with non-aggressive methods

Monthly Bus Pass
-
Participants are provided a bus pass for transport to work or school​ using the Central Texas HOP

Assistance Obtaining State ID
-
​CTYS helps participants communicating with appropriate agencies, filling out paperwork, and navigating the whole process

Employment & Educational Services
- CTYS partners with companies and secondary schools that provide employment and higher education to program participants
